Last year we started the show with 4 + 2 +1. We had four photographers who were confronted with a new challenge, to organize an exhibition on their own, without help. We have joined with two fashion designers and an artist who has brought his wealth of unique and fascinating objects and paintings. And the challenge is successful. The show is liked. Our sacrifices paid off by satisfaction. Not bad for the first time alone.
This year we decided to keep more or less the same formula, this time inviting an artist and designer, and then staying in 5. Hence: 4 +2-1. For the sake of continuity. You know, things are retold.
For this edition we wanted to be in the center of Reggio. Obviously, the municipality has failed to help with no space. Although our project and we liked that appeared to be more convincing, there was nothing to do. Only bars and shops. So armed with the same spirit, we sought an alternative space. You know the vacant shops in the center are a great opportunity. A showcase of the city. But the only security that are available just those two weeks when you need it and that you can confirm at least two months in advance, is at least remote. In fact, no shop, no party.
But who is discouraged?
And so we set up a vacant apartment. In the center of Reggio. Each of us has a room to exhibit their work, what he believes and why he gets excited. We hope to excite even those who visit us.

This year the theme of the week is the enchantment of European photography. We were told that because of the numerous cuts, the event will be reduced compared to previous years, the exhibitions open only on weekends and less numerous (apparently). E 'likely that those "institutional" they are (as they are financed by the municipality) but I am sure that the city will be filled micro-exhibitions everywhere. The bakers, butchers, shops, all esporanno the symbol of belonging to the event even though displaying an image. I do not know what the amount will lead to the quality of the event (we would prefer that the securities of Reggio do the same by opening the vacancies in their environments far more wide-ranging exhibitions), but there is good participation. And these days a city that adheres to a cultural event is already a good first step. But I like the idea that this goes beyond. Beyond the impetus for all to expose something, what is all this visibility? To increase cultural events even during periods outside the festival? To encourage institutions to invest in additional exhibitions or workshops and cultural exchange "European"? Where are the critics, magazines, editors or those supplying the events? They go around to see the exhibits and met institutional nodding to pay so much intellectual effort, here they are around a table to taste the tortellini Reggio who are so good. But I think they lost sight of a specific aspect: the freedom of expression that is all and the freedom of choice, or to learn to discern from what you like and that is quality, but from what is banal or mediocre. But it is not the same principle is at the base of our life. Knowledge is a quality that must be constantly nurtured and not a unique moment that ends with the end of the studies.

On May 1, four of us 4ART we finally opened our exhibition 4 +2 +1 in the circuit of the fourth edition of European Photography - Reggio Emilia 2009. It 'was a weekend full of events, exhibitions, openings and more. Reggio Emilia has been the stage of a vitality often unusual for our city, but it was great.

And we can also say that it helped fuel this cultural richness ...

4 +2 +1 was inaugurated on May 1 and has been a real success. Have been so many friends, relatives, acquaintances and strangers who came to visit and have appreciated the effort and persistence with which we have continued our project!
