Street signs proudly proclaim the Col de la Bonette as the highest pass in Europe, but it is a disputed claim. Certainly there are other gravel roads that reach to greater heights, but Bonnette is a perfectly paved path and is a step, then everything is OK? Not at all, the dispute focuses on the circular road that the French have created specifically on the pitch, which actually is located at an altitude of 2715m on the eastern side of Cima de la Bonette, but the road still climbs to an altitude of 2802m on the western side of the rope around it completely. This small circular generates the highest road in Europe and seems to have been constructed for no other reason than to proclaim himself as one of the most famous climbs in France.
The landscape here is amazing. There is hardly anything except mountains. Much of the climb passes through the French national park of Mercantour. The climb to the Bonnette from Saint Etienne de Tineo is fantastic, 25 km of absolute solitude pedalatoria ... you have the feeling of getting into heaven, and when you walk the last 7 km, well defined before you see the black pyramid that is not other than the peak of the mountain in a desolate and rocky.
